Leigh Park in the 60s
Growing up in Leigh Park was a good grounding as any for the challenges in store for the average working class lad.
With a bit of luck and little daring I ended up working at a Nato Air base soon after leaving Purbrook Grammar, which then led to me spending my 20s in Egypt, Sudan, Saudi and HK before returning shortly before my 30th birthday. Bored with the commercial world which included running Autodesk's multimedia division (3D Studio, Animator Pro etc) I found myself living in Sweden on the side of a deserted Fjord. Waking to the early morning sounds of fisherman breaking the ice hoping to catch their wages for the day.

This 707 crashed on the Nile when I lived in Khartoum.

Numeri banned booze in Sudan so we had to brew our own...
As with all good things it had to come to an end and on my return to England I started and then sold a modest finance business which marketed credit cards and internet credit scoring engines into the business sector. This led to a career in investment banking technology working from London and New York and encountering some of the nicest and nastiest, smartest and daftest people that mother nature has deigned to produce.
You wonder why the world is in a financial mess? I have an idea why. I worked with some of the people responsible for the crunch. Super heroes and super nomarks in equal measure.

Flying Saucer, New York
Now after many years of soul searching and 'red eyes' I finally feel as if I have found or should I say returned to my real home.
Although I am not fortunate enough to live in Portsmouth I do return as often as I can, either to see my family or of course exercise the season tickets when we play at home.
I hope you enjoy myPompey. Feel free to add me as a friend or drop me a line at admin@myPompey.com.

Chris
I enjoy photography -

I collect Art - nothing too expensive - Abstract, Oils etc

PS. I'm into technology and have 2 software Patents to my name for the design of dynamic rendering engines for the investment banking sector, specifically Structured Finance... so don't start me talking about finance in football!
Btw, I should also have mentioned I also worked as a Computer Officer for English Heritage's Archeological Rescue Unit at Fort Cumberland in Eastney for 2 years. Easily the nicest place I have worked and where I also met Sheila, long standing Pompey fan (home & away) who happens to live next to FP. Sheila and her husband Steve, I am proud to say, are two of my oldest and dearest friends!
Fort Cumberland, Eastney.
