Been a Pompey supporter as long as I can remember. I am now 37 so that's quite a long time!
Married to Jane with 3 kids. 2 girls Lily & Asia (7 & 5) and a boy Alfie (10 months).
I am currently living in the Scottish Borders back in the town where I grew up. I've been a bit of a nomad
since my early 20's. Living in Canada and The Netherlands to Liverpool and Edinburgh.
I am a proud Scot but I was actually born in St Marys Hospital in Portsmouth. My Dad was in the Royal Navy
and was based at HMS Dryad at the time of my birth. My Parents had intended to go to Scotland for my birth but
much to my Dad's annoyance I was 8 weeks premature.
I moved to Scotland when I was 3 months old but those 3 months made me a Pompey Fan for life!
Growing up in Scotland, all my friends were either Rangers or Celtic supporters but my Dad who used to be a Rangers fan in his youth
was sickened by all the sectarianism that goes on. So he always encouraged me to support my home team.
You can imagine the stick I got. All my mates wearing Rangers and Celtic tops and me wearing my Pompey top when we were in the lowly English Divisions. Who are they? Why do you support them? So yer bloody English then.... and so on!
I tell you it's tough when your two teams are Portsmouth and Scotland. I have not had much to shout about in my life!
Well not until we got promoted and of course last years marvelous FA Cup Adventure.
The dawn of the internet was a great thing for a distant Pompey Fan. The best part putting me in touch with the Scottish Pompey Supporters Club
known as "Clan Pompey". Until then I had no access to tickets. They are great bunch of guys mainly made up of Pompey Expats now living and working in Scotland.
I have since been to quite a few games. All of them away. My biggest regret is that I still have not been to Fratton Park. Hopefully I will get there before our New Stadium is built.
My first was Bolton away. A great weekend as I stayed in the hotel which makes up part of the Reebok Stadium. I was standing next to Mr Westwood and we won 0-1.
It was just after HR had left us for down the road and the game when Diouf spat at De Zeuw!
Longest trip was when I lived in Utrecht. Left house at 2am Dutch time cycled to train station, got train to Schipol. Flew from Schiphol to Edinburgh got collected by car and taken to Edinburgh Waverly rail Station. Took train to Newcastle saw us get smashed 2-0 and Shearer score his landmark goal. Get train back to Edinburgh get collected by car and drove an hour to parents house then flew back to Holland next day.
My next visit to Newcastle was much better it was the day we were 3 nil up after 10 mins and went on to win it 4-1.
My best game though for obvious reasons has to be the Cup final. I was dressed in the Kilt and started on the Guinness at 5am at Edinburgh Airport.
What a day!
I hope there are many more days like that to come, however come what may I am Pompey Till I Die!
